WHAT IS ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY? (SHORT & CONCISE DESCRIPTION)

Assistive Technology (AT) is technology that includes adaptive, assistive, and rehabilitative devices specially designed for people with disabilities. Thanks to AT, disabled people can perform tasks that would otherwise be very difficult, or even impossible for them to do. Over the years, AT has evolved beyond traditional devices like wheelchairs and walkers. Technologies now exist that allow disabled individuals to independently perform basic tasks that previously required the help of another person, such as getting dressed, eating, maintaining personal hygiene, and even getting out of bed.

Additionally, the rapid development of smart home tech has made options available to disabled people that were previously too expensive or too difficult to install. At FLI we do our utmost best to provide and install AT, like eye tracking hardware for computers, custom-made carriers, WIFI connected lights, locks, thermostats, and even door openers, to help disabled people enable themselves. Thanks to these devices, home control becomes as easy as the touch of a button, a blink of an eye, or a simple voice command. Assistive Technology has opened the door for many people who were previously fully dependent on others. They can now live and thrive with less or no outside help, they can now live independently.
